Something your teachers will actually use after the first week

Most literacy purchases follow the same arc. Enthusiasm in August, a training day in September, and by November the materials are in a cupboard because the implementation cost outweighed what teachers got back. The deciding factor is almost never quality, it is whether a teacher can use it without rearranging their day.

Secret Stories® survives that test because the barrier to starting is close to zero. A teacher posts the set and tells a Secret when a pattern comes up. There is no fidelity checklist, no pacing guide, and nothing that makes a busy teacher feel behind, which is why adoption tends to hold.

Equip classrooms, not a program binder

Each Class Kit covers one room. Teachers own it, it stays up all year, and there is nothing to distribute or collect.

Give teachers a shared language

When every classroom uses the same Secrets, students carry the explanations between grades and staff can reference them across a building.

Add professional learning if you want it

A 3 hour or 5.5 hour workshop with Katie Garner, in person or virtual, with 30 days of unlimited staff access and a certificate of hours.

Introducing the stories is always a special part of my day! My students absolutely love learning all the stories, and they actually work! I introduce the secrets the first week of school by having our SRO deliver Word Detective badges and help us with our SS pledge. It's an amazing way to get students excited for all the stories to come!

Common questions

How much training do teachers need before starting?
None to begin. The Quick Start Guide is enough. Optional professional learning goes deeper on integration and grade-specific strategy, but it is not a prerequisite.
How many kits does a school need?
One Class Kit per classroom is the usual configuration, since the posters stay posted. Schools frequently start with a single grade level and extend once teachers ask for it.
Will it fit the curriculum we have already bought?
Yes. It supplements rather than replaces, so your existing adoption and the training behind it stay intact.
What does the professional learning involve?
A 3 hour half day, a 5.5 hour full day, or a 6 hour follow-up session, delivered in person or virtually, with unlimited staff access for 30 days and a certificate of hours. Details on our workshop page.
Can we trial it before committing school-wide?
Most schools begin with one grade level or a few classrooms. If you would like a formal quote for a phased rollout, the quote builder will produce one.
